Anne Arundel Peace Action is the local chapter of the nation's largest grassroots peace and disarmament organization. Nationally, Peace Action has more than 100,000 members. The Anne Arundel chapter, which was founded in 1982,represents approximately 300 households.

We have received awards from our national organization for our visibility in promoting peace and justice in one of the most military oriented communities in the East and for our efforts at diversifying our membership racially and ethnically.

There is a chapter get-together on the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month which is open to all. This is a social, informal occasion at which members get together for dinner at a local restaurant to talk over local, state, national and world affairs.

A serious campaign is underway to pass legislation in the General Assembly to encourage the Governor to resist the sending of additional Maryland National Guard troops to Iraq.   Details are at www.mdguardhome.org
